The Falcons Exact Revenge on Cameroon In the Second pre-WAFCON Friendly Match
In the second game of their doubleheader match, the Nigerian Super Falcons defeated Cameroon 3-1.
Nigeria exacted revenge on the Lionesses on Tuesday in Yaounde with goals from Michelle Alozie, Rinsola Babajide, and Chiwendu Ihezuo.
After losing to the Cameroonians 1-0 on Saturday, the Falcons overcame the setback with a decisive victory in the rematch. After just seven minutes, Cameroon took the lead, but the Falcons had a sufficient response this time.
Nigeria equalized in the 32nd minute after Babajide’s whipping cross found Ihezuo’s head.
The Falcons finished the comeback before halftime. After a scramble involving several Cameroonian players, Babajide was inside the box to poke home the ball.
Alozie added the third in the sixty-fourth minute. Rasheedat Ajibade’s dinking cross was powered home by her after she timed a late run into the box.
The games were played in advance of the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
With all four semifinalists advancing straight to the FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in Brazil the following year, the 2026 WAFCON is set to take place from March 17 to April 3.
Despite reports of host changes or rescheduling, CAF has not yet provided an update.
The defending champions, the Super Falcons, are paired with Zambia, Egypt, and Malawi in Group C.
