STF averts post Sallah conflict, arrests bandits
The Special Task Force (STF), in Plateau State on Tuesday averted what would have resulted to crisis in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
The Task-Force also known as Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), arrested some suspected cultist known as Sara-suka in Hausa language, alongside their gang leader.
However in a stakeholders meeting held at the instance of the STF Commander, Major General Anthony Atolagbe, said the arrest were made Tuesday morning, following violence clash between rival cult groups (Sara-suka).
He said the OPSH arrested some suspected Sarasuka members, and have also recover 120 packets of Tramadol substance with 23 knives from the suspects.”
The STF boss added that “a number of cars were smashed by the rampaging cuties, but at the moment I can not ascertain the exact number of cars affected: though we have brought the situation under control”, he said.
It was gathered that most of the suspects apprehended by the STF were under the influence of hard drugs.
The Sarasuka clash had earlier created tension within Jos metropolis, as residences and travellers to Bauchi and Gombe state avoided Bauchi road route for fear of being hurt.
