Speaker Condemns Zamfara Bomb Explosion, Mourns Victims

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbad has condemned the bomb explosion that killed seven people in Zamfara State, describing the attack as cowardly and unacceptable.

The explosion occurred on Saturday along the Magami–Dansadau highway in Maru Local Government Area, where suspected terrorists reportedly planted an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on the road, targeting a commercial vehicle conveying passengers.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, the Speaker expressed deep concern over the incident, noting that it came shortly after the Nigerian and United States governments launched a joint operation against terrorist groups operating in parts of the North-West.

He said the attack underscored the desperation of criminal elements determined to destabilise the country, adding that the Federal Government remains resolute in its efforts to defeat terrorism, banditry and other forms of violent crime.

Speaker Abbas noted that the administration of President Bola Tinubu has introduced new strategic security measures aimed at strengthening national security and restoring peace across the country.

He further stated that Nigerians have continued to demonstrate resilience and support for government efforts to protect lives and property, despite ongoing security challenges.

The Speaker reaffirmed the commitment of the House of Representatives, and the National Assembly as a whole to providing the necessary legislative and budgetary support to enhance the nation’s security architecture.
