‘There is a serious leadership defects in Country’

The Federal Government under the leadership of President Muhammed Buhari, is heightening tension in the country unnecessarily by delving too much in the past, and the situation as not healthy for the polity.
The Anglican Bishop of Yola, Bishop Marcus Ibrahim Anfani, who stated this on Monday in Yola, said that the continuous concentration in the past was a sign of leadership failure as a good leader should always be forward looking.
He stated that the perceived attempts to clamp down on past leaders like President Obasanjo, Jonathan and others due to political differences has seriously raised alarm over the future of this country.
Buhari should desist from arrogating to himself a messianic toga, he is not. He had his own faults and an unsavoury past.”
He stated that Buhari is presiding over a country that has been seriously fractured over religious and ethnic cleavages, due to some poor governance and instead of engaging in confidence building measures, he is compounding the situation by not tolerating constructive criticism, proffered by well meaning Nigerians.
“It is wrong of Buhari to think that he alone is the only Good Nigerian and therefore has God mandates him to tailor Nigeria to his vision. What Nigeria needs is a peaceful atmosphere to engender development.
“How long can he keep the blame game going; we elected him to do the right thing for us. Let him just do it. We know the past leaders had their own faults that is why we elected him. He should concentrate to deliver his promises”.
He appealed to the public to pick their voters card and ensure that they participate in the forthcoming general election.
Bishop Anfani condemned falling standard of livings of Nigerians, stressing that it has been gradually deteriorating since the 1970s due to poor leadership and ineptitude on the part of the leaders.
He said the recent spate of killings across the country, especially in Adamawa, Benue, Nassarawa and Kaduna as well as Zamfara, was not a good sign for the country.
Anfani who said this to mark his 53rd birthday celebration, adjudged that his 30 years of priestly work have set him to be a watchman over the nation, praying for the people.
He further said that Buhari should focus on delivering justice to all, and fighting corruption should be all round not to target few of perceived enemies.
