Senate President, Speaker meet Buhari in London

President Muhammadu Buhari has received the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, at the Abuja House in London.

The two leaders departed Nigeria at the early hours of Thursday to London where they met with the President.

However, detail of their meeting was not disclosed as at press time but the Daily Times gathered that it was not part of the routine visits by government officials to wish him well.

Buhari has been in the UK where he is receiving medical treatment since May 7, which has led to many protests due to his continuous absence.

The president did not make any public appearance in the first two months of his stay in London, fuelling speculations that he was gravely ill.

The Daily Times recalls that on July 23, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Oyegun, led a delegation of party members to London to meet with him.

Rochas Okorocha, who spoke on behalf of the delegation, said the president was in high spirits, and that he laughed about the rumours regarding his health.

“By our visit to London today, the merchants of lies have been put out of business and Nigerians will not buy the garbage they have been selling. All those who look up to fake news can find better use for their time,” he had said.

Also, last Saturday, the President received a delegation of his media team and told them that he was doing fine and ready to return to the country but he was only waiting for directive from his medical doctors.

On Monday he received Mohammed Barkindo, Secretary General of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
