Secondus best thing to happen to PDP – Abia PDP stakeholder

The recent election of Uche Secondus as the National Chairman of the People Democratic Party (PDP) has been described as the best thing to have happened to the party in recent times.
A front-line PDP politician in Abia State, Uche Akwukwuegbu expressed this opinion Monday in his Amuzukwu Ibeku country home while playing host to some key National Assembly functionaries, describing Secondus as “one who has been there as a party functionary”.
Few weeks ago in the party’s national convention, Uche Secondus had emerged as its National Chairman, beating so many other contestants but with grudges from some losers, threatening to form parallel executive to the detriment of the party.
However, Akwukwuegbu who is popularly called BAWAS pointed out that in a contest, one person must win, stating that some contestants have acknowledged and even congratulated Secondus as the winner in that national convention.
“There is no big deal about that. Secondus is the best”, BAWAS said stating also “we do not want anybody to betray us in the party”.
Though known people has decamped to the All Progressive Alliance, APC from the PDP, BAWAS noted “it is not about big people joining the APC, it is about the grassroots whose supports are with us”, stating that such big wigs do not come to the polling units to vote, not even their drivers but the grassroots, whose votes count.
On the current hardship Nigerians go through occasioned by the scarcity of fuel and its attendant high cost, Akwukwuegbu called on the Federal Government to pump fuel to the depots during this festive period in order to ease the scarcity and its high cost which stand at about N300.00 per litre in some areas in the state.
According to him, fuel supply to the south east is not enough and it is this that made it cost up to N300.00 per litre, stating “The Federal Government should look into pumping of fuel.
It is not fair to allow it to be scarce. They should pump the product into the various NNPC stations and independent marketers will disappear”.
BAWAS, who recently returned to PDP from APC where he defected to earlier, described PDP as “wonderful one” where he now feels relaxed “as PDP is a party I built.
I have no regret rejoining it”, he said, adding that in Abia, the state government, senators, leadership and members of the state House of Assembly, the party and stakeholders in the state are happy with him.
“It is like home coming for me,” he added.
He used the opportunity to congratulate the Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu over the payment of salaries this Christmas to ministries, departments and agencies, stating “the ministry staffs are rejoicing.
They were paid before Christmas” noting that those who did not receive theirs were as a problem of bank clearing issues and depends on the bank involved.
