Second Awka Diocesan synod begins

The much awaited second Awka Diocesan Synod will kicked off on Sunday with a con-celebrated Eucharistic Celebration at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, Awka,
The second Synod is themed, ”Thy Kingdom Come: Journeying with God in Awka Catholic Diocese”.
Briefing newsmen on the import of the Synod at Fides Communications’ Auditorium, Okpuno, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, said that the first synod was celebrated 16 years ago by his predecessor, His Lordship, Simon Okafor (late).
Bishop Ezeokafor explained that the Synod was a meeting together of the clergy, bishops, and the lay faithful, to discuss issues that would move the Church forward.
Bishop Ezeokafor said the event would feature people from various parishes chosen by the people to represent them.
For his part, the chairman of the second Synod Preparatory Committee, Rev. Fr. Blaise Emebo, disclosed that the group was made up thirty- five priests, lay men and scholars.
