Sanitation: Kano task force arrests 137 defaulters, summons tri-cyclist leaders
Kano State Sanitation Task Force, under the leadership of the State’s Commissioner of Environment, Haruna Ali Makoda has arrested not less than 137 sanitation defaulters during the last Saturday Sanitation exercise for the Month of November.
The defaulters who were arrested at various parts of the state during the exercise hours were fined by Mobile Court Judges Attached to the Tasked Force amounting to a total sum of Ninety One Thousand, Two Hundred and Fifty Naira (N91,250)
Makoda decried non compliance on the part of some tricyclists as observed during the November Sanitation exercise and hinted that his office would summon the leadership of the tricyclists Union for further discussion.
Speaking to news men shortly after the exercise, the commissioner said that, “despite series of warnings by the government on for total compliance, some members of the tricyclist union failed to comply to the exercise.
“We are going to summon their leaders to educate their members on the need to comply with the laws of the state, failure to do so subsequently would result to sanctions”
Makoda commended the people of the state for their continued support to the ministry and state government at large, meanwhile, he appealed to residents to ensure their children also participate in the environment sanitation instead of playing football on the streets during the exercise.
