Romance scandal: Egba Traditional Council, Osile disown Ogun monarch

ABIODUN TAIWO, ABEOKUTA

Members of the Egba Traditional Council (ETC) and Osile Oke-Ona Egba have disclaimed the recommendation and appointment of Mr. Adetokunbo Tejuoso, an indigene of one of Kemta villages, in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State, as a monarch of the township.

The President of the Egba Traditional Council, and Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, in a press release, said the appointment of Mr. Tejuoso was still subject of court action against the current administration of Ogun State.

The Daily Times had reported that Oba Tejuoso, who is Olu of Kemta, one of the 75 coronet Obas installed by former Governor Ibikunle Amosun at the twilight of his administration, was accused of orchestrating love scam on three different women, to receive funds from them, and falsely promised them affection and high regard, was arrested by the Police last week.

In the statement by the Egba Traditional Council, it noted “that it was also improper and falsifying for Tejuoso to have been masquerading himself either in the garb of an Egba Traditional Ruler or that of Ogun State Council of Obas, when he was fully aware that his pretence to be one was both criminal and disgraceful to the revered Egba Traditional Institution”.

“Mr. Tejuoso was never recommended for Obaship, and should not have been parading himself as a member of the Egba Traditional Council or the Ogun State Council of Obas, since his appointment was still before the Ogun State High Court.

“For avoidance of doubt, Adetokunbo Tejuoso should face his alleged involvement in suspected crime with the Police as a citizen.

“We wish to reassure the good people of Egbaland that Egba Traditional Council would continue to uphold the sanctity of the sacredness of the Age Long Egba Traditional Institution.”

Meanwhile, the Osile Oke Ona Egba, Oba Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso has cleared air on the arrest of one Coronet king, Oba Adetokunbo Tejuosho, following a romance scam that went viral on social media.

Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, in a statement issued in Abeokuta, said the embattled monarch does not have any relationship with him.

His words: “There has been a rumour on social media that one Oba Tejuosho has been arrested and locked up by the Inspector General of Police in Kuje Prison, Abuja.

“This is Oba Adetokunbo Tejuosho, a coronet Oba of Orile Kemta in Egba Alake, one of the 75 coronet Obas installed by former governor, Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, just before the end of his tenure in 2019.

“These 75 coronet Obas have already been disbanded by a Commission of Enquiry set up by Governor Dapo Abiodun in the year 2019, but they are however, still in court.

“This surely is a case of a mistaken identity which should not be confused with Alaiyeluwa, Oba Dr. Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso CON, FWACP, Osile Oke-Ona Egba, Oranmiyan, who is presently hale and hearty in his home in Abeokuta.

“These are two distinct personalities who are NOT related in any way. Oba Adetokunbo Tejuosho is not Oba Adedapo Tejuoso’s biological son nor is he his relative, as most people have presumed.

“This certainly is the work of the devil in that, ironically and currently, His Majesty, Oba Dr. Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso CON, FWACP, Karunwi lI, Oranmiyan, Osile Oke-Ona Egba had just written a book to encourage members of the Police Force, titled POLICE OFFICERS AND SELF ESTEEM as one of his social responsibilities and projects to the society globally.

“The book is already in the process of being distributed to police officers free of charge.

“Alaiyeluwa, Oba Dr. Adedapo Adewale Tejuoso had also previously written and distributed, for free, books for Leaders, Presidents and Kings, amongst others, across the nations of the world with amazing commendations and testimonies from dignitaries across the universe.

“Oba Dr. Adedapo Tejuoso is a man of integrity who fears the Lord and has respect for mankind”.
