Rivers PDP, Wike should be serious over security, Senator Abe advises

The senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, has advised the governor of the state, Barrister Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike, and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to be serious with matters of state security in the interest of the people.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt and signed by his spokesperson, Mr. Parry Saroh Benson, Senator Abe wondered why governor Wike and “his PDP hirelings” would not take the advice of a ranking senator with regard to the insecurity in the state but rather chose to play politics with it.
The statement recalled that some time ago, Senator Abe had spoken about the insecurity in the state, but that unfortunately, the governor trivialized the issue only to admit there was insecurity and subsequently set up the State Amnesty Programme headed by Hon. Kenneth Chinda.
The statement added that common sense and reason would have made the government to think towards the direction with a view to tackling the situation.
The Senator alleged that, rather than act in the direction of a responsible government, the Rivers State governor and the People’s Democratic Party chose to trivialize the matter again by accusing Senator Abe to have armed the boys.
In the statement the Senator denied the accusation of the PDP that he sponsored and armed some youths to help him rig election in 2015, as lacking in substance, which was intended to make a joke of a serious matter.
He stated that investors were fast leaving the state which had nothing to do with the assumed factionalisation of APC as claimed by the PDP press statement and advised PDP to mind their business, adding that APC has the mechanism to settle their differences if any.
Senator Abe said every patriotic and sincere Rivers person should be concerned about the increasing insecurity in the state and wondered why the government should not heed to his patriotic call.
According to the statement, Senator Abe, beginning with the present Federal budget, had outlined some of his progressive projects that would be of immense benefit to the youths and that Ogoni youths were looking forward to their accomplishments.
