Empowerment scheme: Sen. Aduda accused of promoting sectional interest

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in FCT and former chairmanship aspirant of the party in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Alhassan Haske, has accused Senator Philip Aduda of promoting sectional interest through his empowerment scheme in territory.
Sen. Aduda had last week disbursed funds and equipment worth several millions of naira in Abuja to some youths selected from across FCT, his senatorial district.
But Haske dismissed the claim as mere empowerment scheme for the indigenous youths that did not involve other Nigerians across FCT.
He said this was not good for a senator who was voted for by other Nigerians to represent the Federal capital to only select his tribal people to benefit from his empowerment scheme.
He said what Aduda supposed to do if really he was a true representative of all Nigerians residents in FCT was to contact leaders of the six geo-political groups in the territory to select their people for the scheme.
“By this act of Aduda, I doubt if he is really representing us well, and it has exposed his attitude of promoting sectional interest at the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
“I am calling on his attention to stop attacking the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in his insincere request on the president to carry FCT people along in his appointment.
“I say he is not sincere about this request, because he never made such request when his party, PDP, was in power to carry FCT people along, but suddenly woke up from his slumber making noise just as a way for him to criticise the government of APC or doing that to be noticed when the issue of Mayoral position comes up.
“On the issue of mayoral position, he will be day dreaming if he thinks he will be considered for such. It is only those who have broad interest of the people of FCT at heart that will be considered, not him, who is only fanning the amber of disunity and sectional interest in the territory,” he said.
Recall that the only Senator representing the FCT, Senator Philip Aduda, last week initiated constituency charity work with the award of scholarships to over 500 undergraduates across all six area councils of the FCT, including handing over of over 200 grinding machines to housewives and helpless widows.
Book makers had viewed attack on Aduda which came immediately after the ceremony as strategy to undermine his personality by the opposition in the state haven rejected the APC flag presented to him as a gift item by the FCT Minister during the award of scholarship ceremony.
During the ceremony, Aduda, was also quick to deny any ambition of assuming presently non existing position of FCT mayor.
