President Trump Not Invited to Paris Climate Change Summit

President Donald Trump, who pulled the U.S. out of the 2015 Paris climate agreement, is reportedly “for the time being” not invited to the climate change summit that will be held later this year in France.
More than a hundred countries, as well as non-governmental organizations, have been invited to the December 12 summit in France’s capital.
An official in French President Emmanuel Macron’s office said everyone at the December summit would be committed to carrying out the climate agreement.
“The United States have a bit of a special status for that summit,” the official said, adding that the U.S. would still be invited to the summit but at a lower level than the president.
This comes as Syria announced also on Tuesday that it intends to join the Paris climate change agreement, which leaves the U.S. as the only country opposed to the pact.
In June, Trump withdrew the U.S. from the deal, denouncing it as “very unfair at the highest level to the United States.”
