President Tinubu celebrates Chief Bisi Akande at 86

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid glowing tribute to Chief Bisi Akande, elder statesman, accomplished administrator, and the first National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in celebration of his 86th birthday.

Describing Chief Akande as a steadfast progressive and a true disciple of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s ideals, President Tinubu praised his remarkable contributions to democracy, nation-building, and Nigeria’s overall development.

He lauded Chief Akande’s unwavering commitment to public service, noting that selflessness has been the guiding principle of his political journey.

Chief Akande’s distinguished career includes serving as Secretary to the Government of the old Oyo State, Deputy Governor, and later Governor of Osun State from 1999 to 2003. He also held the pivotal role of Interim National Chairman of the APC and currently chairs the Governing Board of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria’s foremost institution of higher learning.

Reflecting on Akande’s instrumental role in shaping the APC and securing its historic 2015 electoral victory, President Tinubu commended his visionary leadership and foundational efforts that have continued to drive the party’s success.
