Poly Workers to down Tools over Bsc, HND Dichotomy

The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP) has directed its members to begin an indefinite strike in all its branches nationwide.
SSANIP, which rose from an emergency General Executive Council Meeting, held in Abuja on March 19, 2015, ordered that a nationwide industrial action should begin from March 24, 2015 until further notice.
A release issued in Abeokuta by its National Public Relations Officer, Adebanjo Ogunsipe, was to the effect that: “the Council resorted to this action, because of attempt by the verification committee of the Federal Government to deny its members from further benefiting from the migration exercise already approved by the government and a calculated attempt to strengthen the dichotomy between Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Higher National Diploma (HND) holders.
“The Association observed that some forces are at work to compel the Federal Government to reserve the migration exercise for HND holders, thus making B.Sc. holders the only beneficiaries and promised to fight the battle with all strength”. SSANIP, therefore, solicited the co-operation of its members in all polytechnics in Nigeria by staying away from work.
