Police Paraded 15 Over Electoral Offenses
The Police Command in Oyo State has paraded 15 suspected electoral offenders for last Saturday Governorship and House of Assembly elections held in the state.
Addressing journalists at the command’s headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, the state capital, on Monday, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ade Ajisebutu, who represented Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammad Katsina, said the suspects were arrested in different locations before and during the elections.
He noted that, “a six-man armed gang using vehicles that moved some of the polling stations and collation centres at about 2:30 a.m. got themselves entangled in the impenetrable cobweb of Ambush Squad and when arrested one English-made gun,27 live cartridges and assorted charms were recovered from them”
In another development, two men who stormed a polling unit at Kinni-Kinni Primary School, Saki on the election day and violently assaulted a security officer were arrested.
Katsina revealed that one Ayo Ajiboye was arrested on April 10 with some Accord party posters with pictures of Governor Abiola Ajimobi superimposed on it with a view to misleading the public while four persons were arrested on April 11 in Kishi area of Orelope Local Government.
