Police officers in trouble over escape of detainees

Three Police officers attached to the Ashaka Police Station in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta state are currently in trouble over the escape of two detainees at the station.
The police officers, two senior officers and head of the station (names withheld), investigation revealed, are under pressure to produce the escapees, one of who is alleged to be a notorious robbery kingpin who had been terrorizing Ashaka community in the past two years before nemesis caught up with him and his gang member. They were arrested on tip-off by police detectives attached to the police station.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state police command, Mr. Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the story, said the suspected kingpin had escaped at the Ashaka police station’s custody over three weeks ago, and was yet to be found.
It was reliably gathered that the robbery kingpin, identified as Ellokel Daga from Olor-Ossisa community, had been on the wanted litany of robberies and killing of his victims.
He was said to have been arrested by the police detectives attached to the Ashaka Police Station through the help of vigilante groups in the area, but he allegedly escaped when he was allowed to use the convenience outside the police cell.
Sources alleged that the suspect and his gang member escaped from the police cell after he greased the palm of security officers responsible for the guard of the cell.
But the police image maker denied this explaining that the police had given the matching order to the officers in charge to produce the suspects who were arrested in the forest of Ossisa with Lifang motor bike and several rounds of ammunition in their possession.
In a swift reaction, the head of the station who did not want his name in the print said efforts were being intensified to re-arrest the suspects, assuring that they will be re-arrested soon.
Meanwhile, the father of the suspected kingpin, Mr. John Daga, also being interrogated, has denied knowledge of the where about of his son, and tasked the police to produce him as he had escaped from their custody.
In another development, a middle-aged woman (name withheld) was yesterday allegedly stabbed severally on her body by hoodlums operating in Abraka community after collecting her handsets, and money estimated to N25, 000.

It was gathered that the victim was returning from a catholic mass in the early hours around Uruoka community Abraka when she ran into the hoodlums who had abused unsuspecting passersby to rob them of their belongings.
Police at the Abraka Police Station who did not want their names in the print, confirmed that the victim survived with severe injuries, and had been admitted into the hospital for treatment, adding that they were on the trail of the suspects.
It was gathered that a middle-aged man, Mr. Johnson Mike was yesterday arraigned in a court at Asaba, the Delta State capital for alleged unlawful breaking, entry and stealing of property worth of N232, 000, belonging to a new generation church in Asaba.
According to Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Blessing Okafor, the accused person is facing four count charges of conspiracy, stealing, unlawful breaking and entry into Peace Foundation Bible Ministry.
