Police nab suspected female human trafficker in Delta

Police detectives in Ughelli Police Division, Delta state, have arrested a 28-year old suspected human trafficker in the area for allegedly trafficking on a female teenager.
The suspect, Gift Confidence, a resident of Omojaja Street, off Afisere Road Ughelli, was arrested in the early hours of Monday on intelligence report after she had allegedly lured a 15 year old Miss Ejiro Etu of 84 Afiesere road Ughelli for human trafficking without the knowledge of her parents.
Confirming the arrest of the suspect, the Police Commissioner in the state, Mr. Muhammed Mustafa said the mother of the victim reported the matter to the police, saying that on January 5, 2018, her daughter was taken away to an unknown destination by the suspect, adding that the where about of the victim was yet unknown before the bubble burst.
The police boss said that upon interrogation the suspect said she had been a friend of the victim, and that the victim left the country with her boyfriend to Mali on her own decision, and that nobody lured her or forced her to embark on the journey.
Meanwhile, the police in Ogwashi-Uku community near Asaba have arrested serial burglar John Okemwen 26 years old for allegedly breaking into the home of a tenant somewhere within Cudi Hotel axis, off Esah road in the area and made away with food stuffs.
Luck was said to have ran out of the suspect when during his operation alongside his gang members now at large, a Good Samaritan tipped the police who immediately swung into action and was arrested in his hideout.
But the Divisional Police Officer in the area (DPO), Mr. Tobi Debakeme confirmed that the suspect was being detained for further investigation, adding that she would be charged to court on completion of investigation.
Investigation revealed that Ogwashi-Uku and its environs have been under siege in the past until the deployment of Mr. Tobi Debakeme to the Ogwashi-Uku Police Division.
It would be recalled that crimes such as cultism, kidnapping, armed robbery, motorcycle snatching and burglary had been on the increase before the assumption of office as Divisional Police Officer (DPO) by Mr. Tobi Debakeme.
In another development, a 58-year old business woman, Mrs. Florence Adigwe in Asaba has narrated how she lost N1.5million to ATM fraudsters.
According to her: “I was finding it very difficult to operate the machine when the unsuspecting fraudsters moved to me, and tried to assist me, before I know they had changed my ATM card and dashed away, it was on a Sunday, and I started getting alert in my phone that money was sent to me by my son abroad; and I have reported the matter to the police and the bank I operate where the officials of the bank immediately blocked it, but the fraudsters have withdrawn N1.5million in that account”.
