Police kill notorious kidnapper and armed robber in Rivers

The Vampire, a notorious kidnapper and armed robber was killed by men and officers of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP’s, Intelligent Response Team, at about, 1.am Thursday, at Omu Awa, Community, in Ikwerre Local Government Area, in Rivers State.
Force spokesman, CSP Jimoh Moshood, disclosed in a statement, in Abuja, that Vampire, whose real name was Henry Chibueze, was killed after a fierce gun-duel.
He stated that five members of his gang were arrested alive while a cache of arms and ammunition were recovered from them.
According to him, Vampire escaped from Police custody on January 27, after unknown gunmen stormed the Owerri High Court, in a commando style and rescued him and two of his accomplices.
The force spokesman said the gang has been responsible for so many kidnap and armed robbery attacks in Imo, Abia, Rivers, Delta and other states in the South-East and South-South.
CSP Moshood said that they would be presented to newsmen and charged to court on completion of investigation.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Rivers State Police Command, DSP, Nnamdi Omoni, also corroborated the statement released early Thursday morning at the Police Force Headquarters, at Abuja.
Omoni’s response to a text message inquiry if the dreaded kidnapper and armed robber, Vampire, was killed in Rivers State, simply read: “yes confirmed”.
He explained that the IGP’s Intelligence Team from Abuja, working in synergy with men and officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, attached to the Rivers State Police Command, were currently on the trail of other kidnappers and armed robbers who carry out their nefarious activities in the Ikwerre local government axis of the state.
