Police kill 4 suspected armed robbers in Delta

The police at Isiokolo Police Division in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta state in the early hours of Friday, killed four suspected armed robbers who have been terrorizing the town and its environs in the past few weeks.

It was gathered that the robbery suspects were killed by a crack team of policemen at the Isiokolo following a gun battle with the robbery suspects.

Sources said the police have been on the trail of the suspects said to have been responsible for the attack on the lodge of corps members, robbing them and inflicting injuries on the hapless corps members.

But, the acting Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Chucks Orisewezie while confirming the incident, said that the police were assisted by the vigilante group in Kokori Town after the robbery suspects had carried out a major operation in the area.

He said that the police following a tip off swooped on the suspects who were from Warri and in the ensuing confrontation, four gang members were killed on the spot while others were escaped.

Also, the police spokesman added that members of the local three vigilante group were wounded, just as the police recovered two locally made guns and 10 cartridges from the suspects.

Meanwhile, in a related development, a 32 -year -old suspected cultist (name withheld) was allegedly shot dead by a rival cult group around Orika Road, Sapele.

The police image-maker, Chucks Orisewezie said the victim was trailed and killed by a rival cult group member, adding that investigation was on going with a view to arresting the perpetrators of the evil act.
