Police foil kidnap attempt in Lagos, rescues victim

Operatives from the Festac division of the Lagos State police command has rescued a kidnapped victim from suspected kidnappers.
The Daily Times gathered that on the January 16 at about 8:10pm, the operatives had responded to a distress call from concerned residents along 181 road by 67 road 6th avenue Festac town on the Abduction of One Mr. Kenechukwu Monere at his residence by suspected militants.
The Kidnappers who were said to be eight in number were said to have been armed with sophisticated weapons and assault rifles and had invaded the house of the victim when he was about driving out of his compound.
Eye witness account had it that his gate and car was forced open and he was whisked away by the hoodlums.
The Operatives who were on patrol were immediately alerted and were promptly dispatched to the scene of crime, while tactical operatives and men of the marine police on the waterways were deployed to block all exits to avoid the militants from escaping.
The kidnappers were said to have engaged the police in a shoot out to around Alfa white and white sand area Isheri town where fifteen live cartridges were recovered from the slum.
Eventually the kidnapped victim Kenechukwu Monere was rescued by the quick response of the command operatives.
The victim was also rushed to the hospital at 7th Avenue where he is still receiving and responding to treatment under police protection.
Sources however have it that search is still on in the slums for the hoodlums.
The command’s PPRO SP Dolapo Badmos advised member of the public to continue to be vigilant and to alert the authorities about unknown faces around their residence whenever they are going into or out of their place of residence to avoid being victims of such nefarious activities.
