Police arrests 45-year-old Quranic teacher for killing own student

A 45-year-old Quranic teacher, Musa Wada, has been arrested and taken into custody by the Jigawa State Police Command for allegedly killing his student, Bashir Adamu, over repeated absences from class.
Jigawa State police Command spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed the arrest, stating that Wada, a resident of Jikas-Dabaja village, was apprehended on March 13 following the sad incident.
According to the police, investigations into the sad incident revealed that the teacher had disciplined Adamu for frequently missing lessons, but the punishment led to the boy losing consciousness and death.
Police said that it found that the suspect in attempt to hide the crime or for other motives dismembered the child’s body, severing his head and genitalia before dumping the remains by the roadside.
He then buried the detached body parts on his farmland probably to retrieve same later.
But the incident came to light on March 12 when locals discovered a decomposing, headless body along a roadside in Jikas-Dabaja village.

The discovery was promptly reported to the Gwaram Divisional Police Headquarters, and further investigation identified the victim as Adamu, one of Wada’s students.
Upon his arrest, Wada reportedly admitted to the crime, and the police have since recovered the victim’s remains.
Police authorities said the suspect who is in custody will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
