Police arrest two for attempting to steal car in church

Two notorious car robbery suspects who specialize in stealing Toyota vehicles in Lagos have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.
The suspects whose names have not been disclosed were arrested January 25th at about 10pm while trying to steal a Toyota saloon car owned by a worshiper at St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
Investigations revealed that on the said date, operatives of the Lagos state command from Denton division had acted on an intelligent alert while on surveillance patrol of the area.
It was alleged that some hoodlums who were into stealing of parked cars from their location were attempting to open a parked Toyota saloon car in the church premises.
The operatives who responded swiftly apprehended by the police operatives. Upon a thorough search, the suspects were found to be in possession of various types of master keys which they confessed were meant for the operations.
They also said that once they come across parked toyota cars they use their master keys to open and move the cars away from the park and sell to a receiver for cash.
The commands’ acting Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Famous-Cole Olarinde said and the exhibits have been transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Robbery Squad of the command for discreet investigation and that effort is on to apprehend other accomplices.
He said, “the suspects will be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation. I however advice members of the public to stay vigilant at all times as well as give us useful information in order to keep the states safe.”
