Police Arrest 20 IPOB members, Declare Man Wanted For Designing Branded T-shirt, Fliers

No fewer than 20 persons who are members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra ( IPOB) have been arrested for breaching the public peace order while Chukwuemeka Ogbuji another member known for designing fliers, posters and T-shirts for the group has been declared wanted.
Amongst the 20 arrested members are top commanders of the group who are responsible for coordinating and leading protest in the South-Eastern part of Nigeria.
Recently in December 2022, members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) during a peaceful protest in Owerri, Imo State to demand for the unconditional release of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, were said to have engaged the police in a violent confrontation during a clash .
The peaceful protest led by some unidentified commanders of the proscribed group however escalated into violence of unimaginable proportion leading to casualties as the protesters destroyed public facilities due to the use of brute force by the combined forces of the military and the police.
Investigation further revealed that the Nigerian army were called upon by the Police for back-up during the violent clash with the protesters.
Meanwhile, a statement released by the Nigerian Police stated that its men and officers carried out an operation to clampdown on members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) responsible for violating the order banning the group from unlawful gathering and protest in the South-Eastern part of the country.
The statement further stated that over 20 members of the group have been arrested including 2 commanders during a protest in Owerri in Imo State.
According to the statement, all 20 members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra ( IPOB) would soon be charged to court while another member known as Chukwuemeka Ogbuji who is into designing of branded T-shirts,fliers and posters with symbol of the rising sun for the group has been declared wanted by the police.
Some of the 20 arrested members include Uche Nwafor, Chukwudi Emenalo, Ofor Jeremiah, Donald Okoro and Peter Nwanbuzor .
The others are Okonkwo Eze, Ezeife Mathias, Jerome Uche, Uchenna Nnamani, Adolphus Okorojie, Williams Nwanbueze, Uchendu Peters and Nwaneri Okonkwo.
Meanwhile the number of casualties at the time of this report remained unconfirmed.
