Plateau to boost security, equip agencies
The Plateau State Government has expressed its commitment to provide the necessary facilities to the security agencies in the state to enable them perform their duties effectively.
The state Governor, Simon Lalong gave this assurance when the Assistant Commandant General, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Zone H, Osaro Osawiegie paid him a courtesy call at Government House in Jos Monday.
The governor who was represented by his Deputy, Professor Sonni Tyoden explained that “NSCDC has done well in the maintenance of peace in the state, hence we will do our best to support the agency as well as other security agencies by providing needed equipments to compliment their effort”, he said.
He however appealed to the corps to give more slots to Plateau indigenes when recruiting personnel into its service.
Earlier, Assistant Commandant General Osaro Osanwiegie said he was in the state for a three-day working visit and appreciated the government and the people of the state for cooperating with the corps in curtailing security challenges.
The commandant however commended the governor for donating an office to the NSCDC and appealed for more cooperation from people noting that the corps was always ready to protect the state in line with its mandate.
