Anambra State Physical Planning Board (ANSPPB) has recovered some important government property at some locations.
The board was compelled to apply minimum force to recover some of the Government landed property after demolishing illegal structures sited on them.
During the exercise, the board recovered the state government’s land at Union Secondary School, Umuawulu.
General Manager, ANSPPB, Mr. Anene Nwabufo, ordered the removal of illegally planted beacons at the school premises by some land speculators who plotted and sold off some portions.
Nwabufo noted that the land at the school was acquired by government in 1978 and only recently plotted and sold off by some unknown individuals.
The GM, then, urged Ndi Anambra to always seek clarification from appropriate authorities before purchasing, selling or building on any land around a school environment.
The `Show Force Monitoring Team’, was used for the project. They carried out the exercise at Owerre-Ezukala Road, Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area, where a defective building was pulled down.
He noted that the integrity of the structure had been tested by the State Material Testing Laboratory and it was marked as deficient and potentially risky; which then necessitated it being pulled down.
Meanwhile, at Ndikelionwu, the team arrested security personnel who allegedly threatened officers of the board with arms.
The board toured all parts of Aguata LGA, where they marked and served notices to defaulters, whose buildings were without approvals.
