PDP youths endorse Farouq Mustapha, seek zoning of Bauchi guber ticket to north

The Christian Youths in Politics, a group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has urged the party leadership and Bala Mohammed, Bauchi governor, to zone the 2027 governorship ticket to Bauchi north.

At a press conference on Wednesday in Bauchi, Jondes James, chairman of the group, said the endorsement of Farouq Mustapha, commissioner for rural development and special duties, was based on equity and fairness.

“We are appealing to His Excellency, our governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, and the leadership of our great party to consider zoning the PDP governorship ticket to Bauchi North senatorial and consider Hon Farouq Mustapha as the befitting candidate, in the spirit of equity, fairness and justice,” James said.

The group said Mustapha’s experience as a former banker, two-term member of the house of representatives, and director-general of Bala Mohammed’s 2023 continuity campaign made him a strong candidate.

James added that the commissioner had shown “deep understanding of the challenges facing Bauchi” and had proposed practical solutions.

He maintained that Mustapha’s leadership style was inclusive and characterised by empathy and accountability.

“We are confident that he will work tirelessly to ensure that Bauchi state is governed in the best interests of all its citizens,” James said.

The group also praised Mustapha’s ability to unite people across religious lines, describing him as a leader who would prioritise infrastructure, education, healthcare, and the economy if elected.
