A member of the Presidential Committee on North-East Initiative (PCNI), Engineer Mohammed Gambo Umar, has said the committee’s aim of donating drugs and consumables to Primary Health Centers in Bauchi State was part of President Muhammadu Buhari’s plan on North East rehabilitation programme.
Engineer Umar made this known while presenting the drugs and the consumables to the Bauchi State government on Friday.
The PCNI member, who also inspected some completed projects in Bauchi, said: “We are witnessing another remarkable health care intervention on North East rehabilitation programme in Bauchi”.
While stressing that the drugs and consumables were meant for a three primary healthcare in the three senatorial zones of Bauchi, Umar said, “the Primary Health Centres includes Kofar Fada PHC in Bauchi LGA, Dambam PHC in Dambam LGA and Mashema PHC, in Itas Gadau LGA”.
According to him, PCNI collaborates with Bauchi government in provision of health care services in the state such as free medical outreach that included eye surgery, paediatrics, gynaecology and. Counselling across the state.
While receiving the equipment, Governor Mohammed Abubakar commended the Federal Government for the intervention, saying the intervention was timely and would go a long way in adding value to the already launched 5 points health Agenda of his administrations, tagged ‘Lafiya Garkuwa’.
He said the five points health agenda was launched to provide effective healthcare delivery and to reduce maternal and child death in the state.
He assured that the drugs and consumables donated by PCNI would be judiciously distributed across the PHCs for the benefit of the people.
Earlier, the state Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Zuwaira Ibrahim Hassan, commended the initiative for donating drugs and the consumables which she said will reduce health challenges in the state.
The Commissioner explained that the items donated include anti-Malarial drugs, cottons, baby delivery kits among others that are commonly used in primary health centres would go a long way in ameliorating the health problems of good people of Bauchi State.
