Partial closure for Lagos-Ibadan expressway commences today

The rehabilitation work on a section of the major carriageway of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has commenced on Monday, thus, the partial shut-down of the road with officials ensuring the diversion of traffic into Lagos and outside the state.

The rehabilitation which begins with the expansion of the Berger to Kari axis of the express-way, made provision for diversions such that motorists don’t have to experience traffic which has been a main feature of the expressway.

The police has also deployed men along the expressway to ensure security of motorists.

The Lagos-Ibadan expressway which is a major road going in and out of Lagos, is one that’s critical to Nigeria, but today, it’s undergoing a major expansion that will last for a month and this is the third time in 11 months, that the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway will be shut-down partially to enable the commencement of rehabilitation work.

The ever-busy expressway has suffered serious neglect over the years as little efforts were made to update the facility to meet the demands of over 250, 000 vehicles going in and out of Lagos on a daily basis.
