Owerri NBA boycotts court sittings
Members of the Owerri branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), on Monday boycotted court sittings across the state and staged a protest over an alleged assault on the chief Magistrate in charge of Umuneke Ngor Magistrate’s court, Ngozi Onyenemezu and two of their members, Emma Eke and Chukwuemeka Anyanwu.
Addressing journalists in front of Owerri High court the lawyers alleged that the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ngor Okpala, I.G Moses and his officers invaded the court and beat up the magistrate and two lawyers for discharging three armed robbery suspects on July 19.
The chairman of NBA Owerri branch Damian Nosike, said that the lawyers were on a protest March to condemn what he tagged police desecration of the judiciary.
