Oshodi LG primaries- Police on the hunt for perpetrator

The Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday said that the command is on the hunt for perpetrators of the fracas at Shogunle following the All Progressive Congress (APC) primaries for councilors in Oshodi.

The Daily Times reports that the fracas which occurred on Monday, May 29, led to the alleged death of the chairman of the Motorcycle Riders Union in the state, Rasak Bello, popularly called Hamburger.

Giving an update on the fracas, the command’s spokesperson, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole said that normalcy had since returned to the place as investigation is on to arrest the perpetrators.

“Normalcy has returned to the place, no more violence, the place is now calm. We are working with those that have useful information on what led to the violence.

“Definitely there will be eye witnesses, its just that most of them don’t want to come out as they belong to same party.

“The police had commenced investigation to hunt down the perpetrators of violence as the command will continue to maintain law and order in the state.

“One life was however lost while another person was injured but I will have to get back to you to find out his status.” he said.

The Daily Times gathered that Hamburger had gone to observe the primaries at the venue for the Ladipo Sogunle ward when he was attacked.

The winner was declared when some hoodlums invaded the venue in a bus filled with guns and loads of broken bottles.

The hoodlums shot sporadically and went straight to where Hamburger and his friends were staying and shot into their midst.

However, some hoodlums within the area had threatened to avenge the death.

The Daily Times Also gathered that many other persons were injured following the violence which marred primaries at Ilupeju, Mushin ,Ogudu and other places in the state.
