Ondo2016 : INEC officials flee as violence mars election in Ilaje

Report reaching us from Ilaje Local Government Area, Ondo state, says there are cases of ballot box snatching as voting progresses.

An eye witness says due to violence, some of the officials deployed to the LGA by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, have abandoned their duty post.

It was also gathered that the ballot box at Unit 1 Mahin in Ilaje has been damaged as shown in the photograph shown above.

Ilaje LGA has the second largest number of electorates in Ondo state.

It was gathered that Collation Officers deployed to Ilaje LGA are taking refuge in INEC office as a result of violence.

As at the time of filling this report, it could not however be ascertained which of the parties is involved in the snatching of ballot boxes.
