Ondo PDP crisis: I’m negotiating with Mimiko – Sheriff

The factional National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, Tuesday said he is in talks with the Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, towards resolving the crisis surrounding the party’s candidate for the November 26 governorship election in the state.

He disclosed this in Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State‎ where he met with Senator Buruji Kashamu and some PDP leaders.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared businessman Jimoh Ibrahim as candidate‎ the PDP candidate for the Ondo poll following a court order.

Dissatisfied by the development, the candidate of Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led faction, Mr Eyitayo Jegede, approached the Appeal Court to challenge the action of ‎the electoral umpire.

But Sheriff, who‎ formally presented the PDP flag to Ibrahim in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State on Monday, said negotiation was on-going over the attendant crisis in the party.

He explained that one of the prominent stakeholders he was negotiating with Mimiko‎, adding that the party had a bright chance of winning.
