Ondo NYSC Orientation Camp gets facelift

The Permanent Orientation Camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ikare Akoko area of Ondo state has now gotten a facelift after years of appeal to the government.

Sunny Aroni, the Ondo State Coordinator of the NYSC disclosed this on Sunday after he had conducted journalists round the facility of the camp.

Mr. Aroni said that the commencement of the renovation work at the permanent orientation camp was sequel to the intervention of the state government.

He disclosed that the government led by Rotimi Akeredolu has awarded contract for the renovation work and upgrade of the permanent orientation camp used by graduates observing their compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

According to him, the state government intervention was coming at the best time when infrastructures and social facility in the camp has remained obsolete.

The NYSC state coordinator added that the upgrade work in the camp will help Ondo state benefited from the Youths Service Corps Personnel Scheme.

Aroni noted that the gesture would also help the scheme to increase the number of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to Ondo state for their mandatory one year service programme.

Aside that, he maintained that the it will help those deployed to the state to seek good jobs in the labour market place of the state rather than sitting idle after the service year.

Daily Times gathered that the renovation work at the permanent orientation camp as began in harness with the roofing of the hostel rooms and blocks.

A total of 1, 882 corps members were deployed for the 2017 Batch ‘A’ stream II for the compulsory scheme in the state.

Out of this figure, the males made up 1, 417 while the females are 465 in number.
