Federal High Court judge kidnapped in Ondo

A judge of the Federal High Court, Akure, Ondo State, Justice Abdul Dogo, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

The judge was kidnapped on Tuesday while he was returning to Akure from Abuja, according to the Nation.

The kidnappers are said to have also made contact and demanded N50 million to release the judge.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has deployed the head of the IGP Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kiyari, to rescue Justice Dogo from his abductors.

A source close to the federal judiciary in Akure confirmed the incident that was corroborated by two of the lawyers who were in his court for hearing of their cases.

One of the lawyers also told journalists that Dogo was abducted along with his driver at Ibilo/Isua Akoko axis, a border area between Ondo and Edo states while on their way from Abuja to Akure and that the kidnappers had contacted family members

It was gathered that the police orderly that was attached to the judge did not accompany him on the journey.
