Ondo APDA flays Akeredolu over Incessant travels

An opposition party in Ondo state, the Advanced Peoples Democratic Party (APDA) has come hard on Governor Rotimi Akeredolu over his incessant travels outside the state.
The party wondered why Governor Akeredolu would be junketing and abandoning the state while the workers and residents are being faced with untold hardship.
It lamented in a statement that since Mr. Akeredolu was sworn-in as the governor of the state, has not find any solution to some of the challenges facing the people of the state.
Dele Ogunbameru, the spokesman of the opposition party signed the electronic statement obtained by the Daily Times in Akure, the state capital.
Mr. Ogunbameru said the frequent travel of the Governor was affecting the business of governance and hindering the progress and development of the state.
He noted that Mr. Akeredolu who ought to focus more on governance now spends more days outside the state junketing in and outside the country with the taxpayer’s money.
“Aside from foreign trips, it is now a tradition for Governor Akeredolu to leave the state on Thursdays and come back on Tuesdays, spending only two working days in the state.
“This action has really caused hardship on the masses who queued in the sun to vote for him on November 26, 2016” his statement read.
He also decried the hardship the civil servants and pensioners in the state pass through to get their salaries and arrears paid since Mr. Akeredolu became the Governor.
The opposition party spokesman later urged Mr. Akeredolu to reduce his rate of travelling and focus more on governance in the state in order to regain the trust of the people.
Mr. Ogunbameru also asked the state government to check the excesses of petrol dealers in the state who are now in the habit of hoarding the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) known as fuel as the festivities approaches.
