Ondo APC threatens factional chairman with arrest

The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on security agencies to checkmate the activities of the party’s factional group so as to avoid tagging the party in bad light.
In a press statement issued by the party’s Director, Media and Publicity, in the state, Steve Otaloro, he called on the factional leader of the group, Idowu Otetubi to desist from parading himself as the chairman of the party or face the consequences.
The statement read: “We are going to do everything possible to defend our party’s name in the face of abuse and threat to any of our members or in case of breach of public peace.
“We are calling on the Police, the DSS and other security agencies to ensure that this violent prone political group’s activities led by said Idowu Otetubi are checked once and for all, especially, as the December 1 2018 election is fast approaching.
“As a peace loving political party with overwhelming support of the people behind us, we are not perturbed by their ranting, but our concern is focused on the disruption of public peace, and the aftermath of such actions”.
Stating that Otetubi is not a recognised member of the party, Otaloro emphasised that Otetubi is all out to tarnish the image of the party as he has no stake in the party.
“We have noted with concern the actions of political group leaders who have constituted themselves as threat to public order and our democracy.
“Further, we decry it as worrisome the extent at which certain individuals incite the good indigenes of the State to violence when biddings are not done.
“This same scenario is repeating itself as our party is preparing for the LG election and the general election,” he said.
Reacting to the statement of the Media and Publicity Director of the Party, Otetubi said he is the authentic chairman of the APC in the state as more than 70 percent of the party members are with him.
He maintained the party should wait for the verdict of the court on the issue.
