Okowa’s aide flays APC over new security outfit

The Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta state on Communications, Fred Oghenesivbe, has said that the proposed security outfit christened ‘Operation Delta Hawk’ will tackle the missing links in intelligence gathering and boost swift response to distress calls in rural communities in the state.

He re-echoed the state governor’s determination to build on the successes recorded in the past five years, by sustaining good governance initiatives anchored on people driven policies, programmes and prudent management of resources.

Oghenesivbe gave the assurance while responding to questions on a Crown FM public affairs live programme: “Ogbonge Country People” on Thursday in Asaba.

He argued that when established, ‘Operation Delta Hawk’ will work in synergy with other security agencies on a broad based arrangement with prosecutorial powers still vested in the police, for and on behalf of the state.

The governor’s aide, faulted the criticisms of the security outfit by the state chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC), prophesying doom for the new security outfit.

“The APC spokesman in Delta state is known for crafting baseless and unfounded accusations in his quest for relevance and to give the impression that the APC could have done better.

“But unfortunately, the party has failed woefully to subdue Boko Haram in some states in the north and Fulani herders/farmers clashes in the past five years across the nation.

“No meaningful and purposeful security outfit can be established within two or four weeks. The APC led national government has not been able to set that kind of record by ending insecurity in Nigeria.

“It is on record that some APC states are bedevilled by unresolved political crisis and insecurity.

“Therefore, it is very safe to assert that the APC in Delta state goofed yet again, for the untimely badmouthing of Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, and his administration.

“The security project is on course and very soon government’s promise to the people will be actualised and Delta state will be more secured, and peaceful for investment and sustained economic growth.

“It is a well known fact that the APC national government is faced with multifaceted unresolved security issues, and it is only fair for the party to solve those vexed insecurity problems, and not to point accusing fingers at the Delta state government,” he submitted.
