Ocholi: Nigeria lost one of the most approachable ministers – APC

…He will be properly immortalised

With the sudden death of Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Barrister James Ocholi (SAN), as well as his wife and son, his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the party has lost one of the most approachable ministers in President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.

The party said this on Tuesday at the APC National Secretariat, when members of the National Working Committee (NWC) took time to eulogise the late minister, calling for the proper immortalisation of the deceased.

While paying his tribute, national vice chairman APC in the South-south, Hillard Etta, who described the late Ocholi as a perfect gentle man, added: “you could smell his humility miles away. He was one of the most approachable ministers in the cabinet”.

The APC national secretary, Mai Mala Buni, who said the late minister lived a fulfilled life, added that he was a committed party member.

His words: “He lived a fulfilled life, he was a committed party member. His demise is a great loss to this party, this nation and the people of Kogi State. We must take solace in the fact that death is an inevitable end and one thing that can not be predicted. We as a party must do everything possible to ensure that Chief James Ocholi is properly immortalised”.

The National Organising Secretary, Osita Izunaso revealed that most of the things in the party’s constitution today were made possible by the late minister. He recalled that Mr. Ocholi actually administered the oath of office on the present NWC members.

Meanwhile, the party’s acting National chairman, Chief Segun Oni has expressed concern about the killings of APC members in Rivers State, following the death of a ward chairman Mr. Franklin Obi, who was murdered alongside his wife and son recently.

Oni, however chided the media for not giving adequate reportage of the attacks “against members of the APC in Rivers and other places”, calling on the security agencies to rise up and stem the tide of violence in the state.

“The police and other security agencies should take responsibilities for what is happening in Rivers State, this is a very serious issue and you as members of the press should see what is happening as real emergency that should not be treated with kid gloves “, he added.
