NYSC mobilises 1,884 for youth service in Jigawa

The Jigawa Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad, has said that a total of 1,884 corps members were deployed to the state for their national service.
Muhammad made the disclosure during the swearing-in and orientation of the new corps members, in Dutse on Thursday.

He stated that the 1,884 new corps members were made up of 962 males and 922 females.
The state coordinator explained that the corps members belonged to Batch C Stream 1 of the 2019, who would be the last batch for the 2019 service year.
He enjoined them to participate fully in all the activities line up during the orientation course.
According to him, some of the activities include morning meditation, physical training, military drills, martial art, citizenship and leadership training, sports and general lectures, among others.

The coordinator said that the orientation course was one of the cardinal programmes of the NYSC, which involved four components, namely primary assignment, community development service, winding up and passing out parades.
Earlier in an address, the state governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru, who was represented by the Commissioner for Information, Youth and Sports, Col. Muhammad Alhassan (rtd.), pledged to ensure the security of all corps members posted to the state.
Badaru said that his administration would do everything possible to make the NYSC members feel at home and enjoy their service in the state.
“Let me assure you that Jigawa is a peaceful state. You will definitely enjoy your service in the state,” he said.
