Nwosu, Rufai, others for All Stars Cup

Peter Rufai, Nduka Ugbade, Henry Nwosu are among ex-Nigeria international stars that are set to feature in the 2nd Edition of All Stars Football Cup in Lagos soon.

The tournament is a rare opportunity for stars of yesteryears to once again dazzle football fans every Saturday and Sunday at the Nigeria Ports Authority Sports ground, off Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos.

Ex-Green Eagles midfielder and now Chairman of the Main Organizing Committee, Henry Nwosu (MON), stated at a press conference Wednesday that the All Stars tournaments aimed at promoting friendship among players of yesteryears would kick off officially on Saturday, September 9, 2017.

Nwosu, a member of the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations winning Green Eagles squad said the tournament involving 24 teams is open for sponsorship.

“Surely, the All Stars Cup is to promote unity and business contact for the 24 All Stars teams. Unlike last year when we had 16 teams, 24 teams are competing this time around.

“There would be prizes for the top three teams, while top referees would be officiating.

“We will also ensure that there is adequate medical and security personnel at the NPA Sports ground from kick off date to the final day,” he said.

Nwosu however, pleaded with sports loving individuals and corporate groups to give moral and financial support to the All Stars Football Cup that has Peter Rufai as its Ambassador.

Meanwhile, Secretary of the Local Organizing Committee, Wole Eliphus has promised an exciting All Stars Football tournament.

Following the draws held at the SWAN Secretariat, National Stadium, Lagos – Group A has FKJ, PACO, Egan and Saint Mary’s All Stars Teams.
