Nov guber poll: Bishop Nwokolo asks politicians to shun rigging, violence

Barely one month to the long awaited governorship election in Anambra State come November 18, 2017, the Anglican Bishop on the Niger, Rev. (Dr.). Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo, has called the politicians and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to shun any form of rigging, and malpractices capable of compromising the integrity of the election.

Bishop Nwokolo stated this at St. Marks Anglican Church Omagba Phase, Onitsha, Anambra State, during the installation and inauguration of Omagba Archdeaconry.

The Bishop also charged youths not to allow themselves to be used to cause violence in the state during the election.

He said that INEC, politicians and youths should do everything humanly possible to keep away from any form of malpractice or violence and most importantly,

they should allow the will of God to prevail in Anambra State, noting “that is the only way Anambra could remain a peaceful and the best state in Nigeria”.

He lauded the newly installed Archdeacon, Ven. Isreal Odita, saying that he had confidence in him having worked with him some time in past and discovered that he deserved such honour and task.

He called on the churches that made up Omagba Archdeaconry to stand up to their responsibility as a new Archdeaconry.

The new Archdeacon of Omagba Archdeaconry described the inauguration and his installation as timely and Lord’s doing, pointing out that Omagba Archdeaconry was equal to the task, as according to him, God will continue to be with them and give Omagba Archdeaconry what it takes to live up to the challenges as new Archdeaconry.

Ven. Odita thanked Bishop Nwokolo, whom, he said, God used to make it a reality.

In the same vein, the Archdeacon of Onitsha Main Archdeaconry, who is also the Administrative Secretary Diocese on the Niger, Ven. Ikechukwu Ihemtuge, said that the inauguration of Omagba Archdeaconry which was formerly a part

and one of the back bones of Onitsha main Archdeaconry has no doubt left Onitsha main Archdeaconry with a huge challenge, noting that Omagba was a heavy weight that had helped Onitsha Main Archdeaconry to maintain an enviable height in the Diocese on the Niger.

Also speaking, Sir Azubike Umunna appreciated God for the wisdom and strength he gave them to plan and execute the installation, noting that already they have plans on ground on how to tackle challenges that will face the new Archdeaconry.
