We’re not after you, NAVC tells Abia politicians, top civil servants

As efforts rid the nation of corrupt practices intensifies, the National Anti-corruption Volunteer Corps (NAVC) has assured politicians, top civil servants and other vulnerable Abians in position of authority that the agency’s primary assignment in Abia State was not intended to witch-hunt them, but to stamp out corruption in the society.

The State coordinator of the organisation, Rev. (Dr.) Blessed Amalambu, made this known newsmen in Umuahia recently, assuring that the NAVC is in existence to make sacrifices in order to ensure that the country is out of its corruption mood.

The agency, he said, was introduced with the aim of collaborating with the Independent Corrupt Practice and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) during the period under review, pointing out that Abia State came first on the list of 36 states in the federation that was applauded for commitment towards shunning corruption among others and hoped to sustain the tempo.

Dr. Amalambu, who listed funding and utility vehicles as major challenges confronting the organisation in the state, urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to brace up as his team will soon swing into action after necessary formalities have been concluded.

The State coordinator, who solicited assistance of media to enable it succeed, enjoined all and sundry to join hands together with NAVC to stamp out corruption as well as say no to it, acknowledging the fact that the task before them was enormous, while reiterating its determination to set the pace for the society to change its attitude on corruption.
