The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has announced a collaboration with the Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation (TASAC) aimed at enhancing maritime administration through knowledge sharing.
This collaboration comes as Tanzania pledges its support for Nigeria’s bid for a Category C seat at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council.
During a recent working visit, NIMASA’s Director General, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, emphasized the mutual benefits of this partnership, which focuses on Flag and Port State Control, seafarer development, and maritime security.
The Tanzanian delegation, led by Vice Chairman Rukia D. Shamte, praised Nigeria’s regulatory reforms and expressed a keen interest in learning from Nigeria’s successful initiatives.
The partnership is seen as a foundational step towards long-term collaboration, with both countries committed to advancing maritime safety and environmental stewardship across Africa.
