Niger partners Zenith Bank on ICT center

Niger State Government and the Zenith Bank of Nigeria Plc have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to build 100 capacity Information Technology Centre (ICT).

Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello who signed the MOU at the Government House in Minna, the state capital assured that the state government would ensure continuous partnership with bank.

A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Jibrin Baba Ndace, said the Governor noted that the project would go a long way to provide job opportunities for the teeming youths, improve the Internally Generated Revenue of the state and as well add value to the educational sector of the state.

“As part of your Corporate Social Responsibility, you have decided to give us a very special ICT centre and from the master plan it will have positive impact.

“We sincerely appreciate this support as it will engage the youths in terms of empowerment and at the same time improve education.

“Apart from increasing our IGR in the state it may also provide job opportunities for few people.

“Whatever business or structure that comes into the state even if it employs one person it is something. It means taking one person out of the labour market. So we will try to encourage and support interventions like this,” said Governor Sani-Bello.

He commended the bank for the support given to the state government in times of needs.

Earlier, the Executive Director of the bank, Malam Umar Ahmed said that the construction of the 100 capacity ICT centre in the state was part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility to the state.

The Executive Director of the bank stated that the aim was to enhance learning, youth empowerment and social development of the people of the state.

He then assured that the contractor who is to handle the project would soon move to the site, adding that the bank still has more areas in which it intends to intervene in the state.
