Niger Delta youths chides Buhari over “Not too Young to Run”

Niger Delta Youths Association (NDYA), worldwide on Wednesday in Asaba chided President Mohammed Buhari for urging the supporters of the “Not too young to Run” not to vie for the 2019 presidential election with him.

The president had recently, appealed to Nigerian youths during the signing into law of the “Not Too Young to Run” bill not to contest with him in the 2019 presidential election, but wait till 2023.

However, leaders of the Niger Delta youths at a media conference in Asaba, led by James Victor, who spoke to our reporter noted that the president’s request was shallow, and bereft of deep thinking, wondering why Buhari would still nurse the intention of serving a second term when he had failed to deliver on his campaign promises

He said “after three years in office, the change President Buhari promised to bring to Nigeria has been nothing, but pain, suffering and deaths; if the current hardship, and deaths masterminded by Fulani herdsmen, many other things, are not pointers to that, so what has he (Buhari) done?” adding that Nigerians have been facing tough times with no solution on sight

Accordingly, he said “Nigerians are being killed on daily basis across the country. Go to Maiduguri, Taraba, and Benue States, among others, in fact, there is no day herdsmen, who have proved to be blood thirsty will not kill, maim, or rape innocent Nigerians from their homes, take over their farms, and even take our daughters hostage only to be used as sex slaves, and many other despicable things”.

He alleged that the president has never taken any definitive step to end the killings, or called his kings men to order, other than asking host communities to accommodate the herdsmen, stressing “Mr. president kept mute, and turned his back to the evil,

but he has the mendacity, and temerity to ask youths not to contest with him 2019, is this position of the president his birth right?, this is the height of disrespect to Nigerians and especially the youths he (Buhari) described as lazy youths recently in a life broadcast in England”.

The Niger Delta youths therefore called on Nigerians to Mobilize, and vote Buhari out in 2019, adding that June 12 declaration as Democracy day celebration, and declaration of MKO, Abiola as President, would not solve the problem, stating “this is not a bad idea, but it’s not enough to sway Nigerians, and the Yorubas from changing their minds towards him come 2019 election”.
