Niger begins Covid-19 campaign across the state

The Niger state government has embarked on public enlightenment campaign and advocacy across its 25 local government areas to halt community transmission of coronavirus in the state.
A statement by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Chairman, Niger state Task Force on COVID-19 pandemic, Ahmed Matane on Thursday in Minna, said government was concerned about the surge in cases in some parts of the state.

“It is disappointing that immediately Gov. Abubakar Bello, announced easing of the lockdown, people started moving around in public places without exercising caution despite the ravaging effects of the pandemic.
”The task force would aggressively enhance on public enlightenment campaign and advocacy on the mandatory use of face mask/coverings for all persons going into public places.
”Adherence to physical distancing by the general public, mandatory provision of hand washing facilities/sanitizers in business and other public premises and prohibition of mass gathering of more than 20 people among others,” he said.
