New Enugu monarch to initiate blueprint for community devt,

The new traditional ruler of Umuaga, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, His Royal Highness, Igwe Eugene Eziekwe Agu, has promised to initiate a blue print, which would contain a comprehensive plan on how to develop the potentials of the community.

He made this known recently, during his coronation after the demise of Igwe Joseph Eneh.

Agu, who spoke to the indigenes at Central School, Umuaga, venue of the coronation, stated that the town had been deprived of basic infrastructure such as standard health centre and other basic amenities, however, reiterated his commitment towards the establishment of a museum, where all the cultural artifacts of the community would be displayed, stating that the community had rich antiquities, which must be preserved for posterity.

He charged indigenes of Umuaga, especially the youths to shun anti-social vices and imbibe the spirit of hardwork and commitment towards the development of the area.

While urging for peace and reconciliation among former contenders to the throne, Igwe Eugene Agu pleaded with them to join hands and rebuild the community, adding that he had forgiven those who had wronged him throughout the election process, which led to a protracted judicial process.

“I appreciate the resilience of my fellow contenders to the throne of our fore-fathers. However, now that a winner has finally emerged, I urge them to sheathe their dagger for the development of the community.

“I bear no grudges against anyone. I have put the past behind me just for peace and sustainable development of our community. Let everybody join hands as I initiate measures for a true reconciliation among all the parties in the seven villages that make-up the community.

A Kano based public servant and illustrious son of the community, Alhaji Yarima Eze Ibrahim Venna, who attended the event with some of his Hausa friends, applauded the peaceful coronation of the new monarch and requested the support of the people for a successful reign.

He charged the new monarch to be just, fair and firm in the discharge of his responsibilities. About five traditional rulers attended the coronation among whom was Igwe Chris Ogakwu, Okwuluoha III of Udi town.
