New Egosi commissions Modern primary healthcare service Oke-Ero LGA

The new Egosi-Ile modern primary healthcare centre in Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara was on Thursday commissioned to improve healthcare services in the area.

Hon. Joseph Oni, the council Chairman, while performing the commissioning, expressed optimism that the project would assist in bringing healthcare delivery nearest to the people at the grassroots.

He praised the communal efforts of the community and other stakeholders toward the completion of the long abandoned project.

The Daily Times, reports that the project initiated in 2007 by the association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) was in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health to improve healthcare services among the people.

The collaboration then had resulted in the building of structures that housed various units in the health centre before it was abandoned.

The project was later took over by the community through provision of necessary facilities and equipments thereby paving way for its eventual commissioning and take-off.

The council boss further pledged the administration’s commitment toward providing required logistics, staff and drugs toward the smooth running of the centre.

“This intervention will be within the available resources of the council which we are optimistic will help in impacting positively on the health condition of our people,” he said.

Hajia Motunrayo Oniyere, the Head of Health Department in the council, listed some of the units in the centre as immunisation unit, family planning unit, Antenatal unit, maternity section, as well as Ear, Nose and Throat units (ENS).

The traditional ruler of the community and the Elegosi of Egosi kingdom, Oba Samuel Dada, in his remark, described the project commissioning as unprecedented in the history of the community.

He expressed the community’s gratitude to the council for its support toward making the completion of the health centre a reality.

Dada said the yearnings and aspiration of the people of the community on having a befitting health centre had finally paid off following the commissioning and take-off of the health centre.

He pledged on behalf of his chiefs and indigenes the adequate protection as well as the judicious use of the facility.
