Nasarawa confirms public procurement director general

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has confirmed Dr. Dominic Adagadzu Bako as the director general, Nasarawa state Bureau for Public Procurement.
Speaker of the House, Ibrahim Balarabe, who confirmed the appointment directed the clerk of the House to communicate the House’s resolution to the governor for his necessary action.
Briefing journalists after his confirmation, Dr. Bako, commended Gov. Sule for finding him worthy of the appointment, and promised to ensure that things were done differently and correctly.
He said he would adopt e- procurement to engender transparency and accountability in the procurement process.
According to him, e – procurement will bring about opportunity for everybody to participate and engender transparency, and accountability.
He revealed that he would make the procurement competitive for contractors with the view to identifying people that have capacity and expertise.
“I am highly excited for this law to have come to accomplishment for the bureau for public procurement, is not procurement, it is going to be e – procurement, something that must be online.
“Things must be done differently and transparently, at least to portray accountability and commitment. There must be integrity in whatever you want to do,” Bako noted.
The essence of the bureau for public procurement according to him, was like a clearing house and due process office where certain standards must be followed.
He gave assurance that the check list would be provided to ensure that things were done correctly, noting that once that was done it would save government a lot of money.
