NAF’s airstrikes kill over ’15 terrorists’ in Borno

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says more than 15 terrorists were killed during an airstrike in Borno state on Wednesday.

Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, NAF’s spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, describing the operation as “carefully planned and executed”.

Ejodame said the air force acted on credible intelligence about a newly established terrorist enclave west of Zuwa in the Sambisa general area.

“On 3 September 2025, a carefully planned and executed air interdiction mission struck a newly identified terrorist enclave west of Zuwa in the Sambisa general area.

“Acting on credible intelligence and confirmatory surveillance, the mission targeted hideouts harbouring fighters and commanders responsible for recent hostilities around Bitta.

“The strikes proved devastating, neutralising over 15 terrorists and demolishing key structures critical to their operations,” he said.

The spokesperson added that the operation represents a significant step in degrading the terrorists’ capabilities in the region.

He also restated NAF’s “unwavering commitment” to protecting Nigerians while working with other security agencies to dismantle terrorist networks across the country.

This victory comes after Nasir El-Rufai, ex-governor of Kaduna state, challenged ONSA to eliminate insecurity not opposition .

“Every successful strike brings Nigeria one step closer to lasting peace,” Ejodame added.
